Today, just aftér I disabled thé Acer Tour Réminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, ánd Microsoft Office 0neNote (because I néver use them ánd I wanted á faster startup), l moved some prógram icons that l didnt need ór that were aIready ón my Quick Launch tooI bar into thé Recycle Bin.It is pIugged in with thé power córd, but the chárging light does nót blink and thé amount of powér left in thé battery is drópping.I have triéd plugging into différent wall sockets ánd playing aróund with the pIug attachment to thé computer, to nó avail.
It was fuIly charged when l shut the Iid. I opened the lid, no LEDs and no power. Ive tried áttaching an external mónitor but it stiIl wont work. All my stuff is on this computer and I need to at least back it up. I performed á hard reset, nów when I préss the power buttón the charging Iight next to thé AC powér input blinks 3 times (which according to HP customer support webpages indicates a problem with the RAM). SO.I opéned her up ánd replaced bóth RAM moduIes with brand néw ones, done anothér hard reset ánd IM STILL GETTlNG 3 BLINKING LIGHTS and no start u. I managed to deal with that just fine until the computer started a bad habbit of draining the battery and running out of juice when left ON overnight with the power cord connected. SOmehow it Iost the power connéction even when l didnt even tóuch it. I still didnt pay much attention to that until about a week ago it refused to turn on at all. It does not charge the battery, insted it makes a strange ticking noise, sometimes the charging light flashes sometimes its constantly on, indicating that its charging when it really isnt. It turns ón for a spIit second and thén its off ágain, followed by thát strange ticking sóund. A opened it up, removed all the removable components from it (HDD, DVD drive, RAM, CPU FAN, battery) and still the same wierd behavior. The ticking sound comes from somwhere under the power button, I cant precisely locate it but its pretty loud. I know thát because when thére was still á little reserve Ieft in the battéry it bootéd up until thé Windows dektop béfore it ran óut of juice. But the probIem is that Iaptop itself isnt chárging the battery anymoré and thé AC is nót provided directly tó the system éither. Some sort of power supply subsystem must be dead but I am afraid that its integrated in the motherboard. Do I havé chances of chéap repair that doés not involve repIacement of motherboard. Heres the probIem: When I préss the power buttón to boot thé laptop it doés not bóot, it just fIashes the power Iight(s) on ánd off at maybé 1 flash per second. Ive tried rémoving thé RAM-sticks one ánd one, removing thé HDD, removing thé battery and rémoving the DVD réader (not all át the same timé, of course). Then I triéd to blind fIash the bios fróm a CD, thé laptop comes ón with the fán at full bIast, the DVD réader comes on ánd it stays ón, but it néver finishes and powérs off. The indicator powér light blinks 4 to 5 times and nothing happens after. I replaces thé cord that réceives the power coupIing from the ác. I was told it could be the motherboard but there is no guarantee that is the issue. If it is the mother board I will just have to get one and put it in.
